The luster of a busy 2025 season faded a bit more at the 2026 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix last Sunday in Boston as the tone for the year was set in the form of a pair of world records by Josh Hoey and Hobbs Kessler along with several world leads.
The following day, just hours after the meet, Boston and the New England region, huge parts of the the East coast, midwest — and even southern states — were hit with a major storm that dumped enough snow to ground flights and clear supermarket shelves.
From numerous vantage points, photographer Donald Reynolds caught the calm before the start pistol, eruption from the stands, jubilation as records fell and the work in progress of competitors inching through the mechanics of a fresh season.
