A Vision For All Women To Cross The Finish Line

Only about only five percent of sports coverage features women despite women making up nearly half of the participants.

And running is included in this glaring figure.

But at the Every Woman’s Marathon on November 16, over 7,000 participants converged in Savannah, Georgia to lay the groundwork for a female-centric marathon that elevated women who were at various stages of their running lives. Backed by Team Milk, the race had the support of running royalty like Kathrine Switzer, Deena Kastor and Des Linden, as nearly half of those who signed up were first time marathoners.

Race organizers sponsored women at the 2022 New York City marathon and polled runners who highlighted the some of the barriers of taking part in a marathon. The input from these runners was crucial in building an inclusive environment at Every Woman’s Marathon.
