Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and husband Andre Levrone have revealed that they are expecting their first child together.
In a joint social media post on Thursday, the couple, who has been married nearly four years, were shown on a beach with an image of a sonogram scan as part of the announcement.
“Made a human with my favorite human. Oh, how we have prayed for you… and the Lord has answered!! You are our greatest blessing and are already so loved,” the caption on the post said. “We are eagerly waiting to meet you! Cool parents loading.”
McLaughlin-Levrone had a busy year on the track in 2025 after grabbing a pair of gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the women’s 400m hurdles and the women’s 4x400m relay. Her win in the 400m hurdles came in world record fashion as she broke her own mark in 50.37.
Last year was equally as productive as she served as the headliner of Grand Slam Track’s inaugural season and capped her campaign in Tokyo at world championships where she broke the U.S. in the women’s 400m in 48.29 on her way to the gold and also grabbed another title as part of Team USA’s 4x400m relay squad. She was also named to the Forbes list of the top earning female athletes of 2025 in December.
But 2026 will be a much lighter time on the track than the past two years as McLaughlin-Levrone will likely sit out the season during her pregnancy. The sport will culminate at the first World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest, Hungary in September, in a showcase that will feature only semifinal and finals in a host of events. And despite not being expected to appear at the competition, McLaughlin-Levrone had already qualified in the 400m hurdles and 400m as part of the automatic qualifying system in place for Olympic and world champions.
Event winners from the 2024 Olympics, 2025 World Championship and 2026 Diamond League are eligible for automatic qualification in a move that ensures a large bulk of the sport’s op talents will be in action.
But looking much further ahead for McLaughlin-Levrone, the next world championships will be in September 2027 in Beijing, China, with the next Summer Olympics taking place in Los Angeles in July 2028.
