The 50th Prefontaine Classic on Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon marks one of the most important — and stacked — track and field events of the Diamond League schedule this year as all roads continue to lead to World Championships in September.

Nearly 100 Olympic and Paralympic medalists will take the stage in one of the most talented lineups ever in a single-day track and field meet.

Key Races and Events
Women’s Long Jump
The women’s long jump will feature a showdown between Tara Davis-Woodhall and Malaika Mihambo, who has the world’s top jump in 2025 at 7.07 meters.

Men’s 100m
The men’s 100m will get a jolt of world leading times as Kishane Thompson, fresh off of his 9.75 win at the Jamaican nationals — sixth fastest in history — takes on Trayvon Bromell.

Women’s 400m
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will likely pull off another stunner in the women’s 400m as her 48.74 in 2023 and 48.75 in 2024 both put her within striking distance of the American record. She could be in record breaking form tomorrow.

Men’s Bowerman Mile
The men’s mile will be missing some firepower in the form of Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen, 1,500m Olympic champion Cole Hocker will likely boost the intensity as Yared Nuguse will be a factor in determining who pushes the pace and crosses the line first. Meanwhile Azeddine Habz, Hobbs Kessler and Timothy Cheruiyot are all guaranteed to be factors down to the bell lap.

Women’s 800m
Athing Mu-Nikolayev is in redemption mode in the women’s 800m after falling in Eugene during last year’s Olympic trials and missing out on a shot to head to Paris. Mara Moraa and Tsige Duguma both look to play the role of spoiler in her “comeback.”

Women’s 100m
Meanwhile, the women’s 100m will be the one to watch as Julien Alfred, Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden will make sure that the top podium spot is up for grabs. Alfred, the Olympic champion, is on a mission to stay in top despite a stellar start to the outdoor season by Jefferson-Wooden.

Women’s 1,500m
Faith Kipyegon is back in action and fresh off of her Breaking4 attempt to be the first woman to crack the four-minute mile barrier. She is world record holder in the mile and 1,500m and will be in top form with a competitive cast of notables like Diribe Welteji, Jessica Hull and Georgia Hunter Bell all prepared to seize their chance at making Kipyegon look slightly less than other worldly.
