Josh Kerr has signed an extension with Brooks in a deal with keep him with the company through 2034, the brand announced on Thursday.

The two-time Olympic medalist has been with Brooks since 2018 after a strong stint at the University of New Mexico, where he won three NCAA titles and set the collegiate record in the 1,500m.

“Josh brings an extremely high expectation of excellence for himself that inspires those around him to raise the bar for themselves day after day as well, Garrett Heath, the sports marketing head at Brooks said in a statement. “We’ve been proud to be a part of his journey over the past 6 years since he finished competing for the University of New Mexico as he’s grown from an NCAA Champion to a World Champion.”

The financials of the contract are still under wraps, the length of the deal means Kerr is staying with Brooks until the end of his career — and beyond. According to Brooks, Kerr will extend his reach to running clubs, youth organizations and become a mentor to the next wave of runners.

Meanwhile, the extension comes after Kerr rode a wave of success in 2024.

He kicked off his year by setting a world best in the 2-mile at the Millrose Games last February in 8:00.67 and ran 7:42.98 in 3,000m for the win at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland last March.

At the Prefontaine Classic last May, Kerr set a new British record in 3:45.34 in the Bowerman Mile, making him the sixth fastest miler in history.

In a stacked Paris Olympics showdown last August, he won the silver in the men’s 5,000m final that featured Cole Hocker, Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Yared Nuguse.

He wrapped his season with a commanding win at the 5th Avenue Mile last September, breaking the 43-year-old course record for his second straight win at event.Kerr stunned with a 3:44.3 finish and shattered Sydney Maree’s 3:47.52 mark from 1981.

“I knew no one’s going to get better conditions than a tail wind and a sunny day in New York,” Kerr said at the time. “I was really looking forward to this race and it makes a big difference coming into these things.”

Just three days prior to the the 5th Avenue Mile win, he took first in the 1,500m at the Diamond League meet in Zurich.

Kerr will be back in action at the Millrose Games on February 8 and debuts in the inaugural season of Grand Slam Track when the league kicks off in April in Kingston, Jamaica.
