Diamond League Monaco 2026 preview: schedule, key events and how to watch
Masai Russell and Julien Alfred headline a stacked lineup that will be featured at the Meeting Herculis EBS in Monaco on Friday.
  • Julien Alfred, Masai Russell, Mondo Duplantis and Faith Kipyegon bring a major dose of star power to Monaco.
  • Duplatis is back in winning form and will lead the way in the men's pole vault.
  • Kipyegon is set to rebound with the women's 3,000m after taking third last week in the mile in Eugene.

After a quick stint in Eugene at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League season shifts back to Europe for the tenth showcase of the series as the Meeting Herculis EBS in Monaco touches down at Stade Louis-II on Friday.

And like last week’s stunner at Hayward Field, some of the marquee names of the sport will be ready to execute on the track and in the field as Masai Russell, Julien Alfred, Mondo Duplantis, Faith Kipyegon, Marileidy Paulino, Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Letsile Tebogo headline a deep field of athletes ready to inch toward the next world lead — or record.

In the women’s 200m, all eyes will be on Alfred as she faces Gabby Thomas, Cambrea Sturgis and Adaejah Hodge, who clocked 21.68 to take the current world lead this year. Tebogo will find himself in a loaded men’s 100m as Oblique Seville takes his 9.82 into battle with Jordan Anthony and Marcell Jacobs all being capable of finding the extra gear to cross the line first.

Russell has been on a mission in the women’s 100m hurdles as he season build up points to a matter of when — not if — she will see a world record in the event. In Monaco she will line up against Nadine Visser, Pia Skrzyszowska and Alaysha Johnson. A packed men’s 3,000m steeplechase could come down to a frantic kick on the final lap as Simon Kiprop Koech, Abraham Kibiwot, Edmund Serem and Geordie Beamish will all be factors when the bell sounds.

Kipyegon looks to rebound from her third place finish in the mile in Eugene and is an easy favorite in the women’s 3,000m where she will take on Nadia Battocletti and Freweyni Hailu, who holds current world lead in 8:24.22. Meanwhile, Collen Kebinatshipi’s strong campaign this season will get its next test in the men’s 400m as he will be in the mix against Matthew Hudson-Smith, Jacory Patterson and Jereem Richards.

Duplantis is back in winning form and pulls into Monaco ready to reestablish his dominance in the men’s pole vault against familiar competition in Kurtis Marschall, Baptiste Thiery, Thibaut Collet and Renaud Lavillenie. Paulino will assert her dominance in the women’s 400m as Dejanea Oakley, Lurdes Gloria Manuel and Rhasidat Adeleke will join her at the start line.

Katie Moon hopes to put the women’s pole vault out of reach in one of her early attempts but first must deal with a group that features Nina Kennedy, Imogen Ayris, Tina Šutej and Angelica Moser. Wanyonyi steps up from the 800m and into the men’s 1,000m field with Djamel Sedjati, Jack Wightman and Mohamed Attaoui all ready to assert themself before the race is decided on a final sprint.
