The next generation of ultimate performance took its first formal steps onto the roads on Thursday with the arrival of Nike’s new Alphafly 4. The supershoe franchise reclaims its place on distance running’s podium with a model that gets more than a spec bump, and is built from the ground up with distance and marathon speed solely in mind.
Nike said it refined each major piece of the model with smoothness and efficiency as a priority, with 10 percent more energy return than the previous version with the Alphafly 4 wrapped in an Atomknit upper and the shoe now rides on a very generous serving of the new ZoomX LT form that exudes lightness that must be felt in person to be believed.
ZoomX arrives in a layer above and below the carbon Flyplate to form a dynamic cushioning system built for taking racing to its distance limits.
A pair of Air Zoom units in each shoe help deliver responsive race-day propulsion, while the Fast Shot outsole keeps each step grippy.
The Alphafly 4 arrives today for a limited release and will be available in a wider release on October 29 via Nike.
