Asics has unveiled its next generation Metafuji Trail 2 that is geared for elite performance and comes packed with a host of updates that are built to tackle some of the most demanding conditions.
The new model was developed with trail athletes Tom Evans and Ben Dhiman with both wearing early prototypes last year at Chamonix. Evans took the win in the event as Dhiman cruised in behind him in second place in an early sign that the Metafuji Trail 2 was nearly ready to hit the trails on the feet of other performance minded athletes.
Meanwhile, the Metafuji Trail 2 is underpinned with a trail-specific carbon plate build that features an x-shaped layout to boost propulsion on climbs but keeping control on descents. The midsole is a blend of a top layer of bouncy FF LEAP foam that keeps the ride light while a bottom layer of FF BLAST PLUS foam under the carbon plate is in place for responsiveness.
Sturdy 3.5mm lugs provide advanced traction and are locked in place with the ASICSGRIP outsole that ensures traction as conditions get unpredictable over ultra-distance efforts. A breathable woven mesh upper keeps an airy feel beginning at the toes while the entire shoe that ensures quick drying, ventilation and drainage in wet situations.
The Metafuji Trail 2 shoe will be available globally on August 1 for $250 via Asics.
