Juntae Kim connects with Asics for the Gel-Kinetic FR, his take on the brand’s premium lifestyle sneaker that is a bold interpretation of a futuristic glance at a retro running daily trainer.
But for his upcoming spring and summer 2027 collection, Kim ups the glam for the Gel-Kinetic FR so it gives a hint of dress shoe but with comfort in mind in a silhouette that is ready to be styled for seemingly any occasion.
The Gel-Kinetic FR arrives in three colorways (black, purple and red) and features a distinct flower motif on the tongue that is a thoughtful — and removable — detail that won’t struggled to pull in attention out in the wild.
Below the surface, the Gel-Kinetic FR rides on a mix of FF Blast Plus and Scutoid GEL technology to form the midsole while the Trussric system adds a lightweight support shank in the midfoot to provide structural integrity and reduce shoe twisting.
Meanwhile the synthetic leather upper construction draws heavily from running shoes from the 2010s, according to Asics. Kim pushes all of it even forward with a touch of punk-inspired flair that carries his version of the Gel-Kinetic beyond the shoe it is sourced from.
An exact release date has not been announced but the Juntae Kim x Asics Gel-Kinetic FR will likely drop later this year.
