Drawing direct inspiration from the iconic Demolisher spike, the Adidas Adizero EVO SL gets an impossible to not notice variant with a distinctive zip enclosure in the form of the Adizero EVO SL Zip.

With the already-proven tooling of it donor model as a tested — and approved — base, the Adizero EVO SL Zip has touches of early 2000s track shoes, wrapped in a shroud along the upper while laces stay tucked away but functional for lockdown assurance on the run.

Riding on a plush slab of Lightstrike Pro foam in the midsole, the mission is to stay light, bouncy and ensure that energy return is delivered in each step. Stacked at 38mm at the heel and 32mm up from for a 6mm drop, the sense of propulsion is present without being too pushy.

Woven mesh along the upper is contrasted with a gusseted tongue while the outsole gets treated to a generous serving of Continental grip rubber in more than just the places that matter the most.

The Adidas Adizero EVO SL Zip arrives on July 6 for $169.99 via Adidas and select retailers.
