Comme Des Garçons SHIRT and ASICS team up with another footwear collaboration with the upcoming GEL-Kayano 14 that leans heavily into a fashion aesthetic paired with early 2000s retro vibes in an all white package.
The brands linked up earlier this year for a fun (and colorful) take on the GEL-Lyte III 07, but this iteration of the GEL-Kayano 14 is more about minimalism and texture.
The clear GEL outsole offers a bit of contrast in an otherwise super clean white silhouette that takes a glance back at the Kayano 14’s past life as a daily trainer, yet this model will likely see on-foot duty in lifestyle mode.

But despite shedding all color from this latest collab, Comme Des Garçons utilize the GEL-Kayano 14 has a canvas of meticulous approach to how each layer — and texture is treated. The underlying engineered mesh barely peeks through each of the overlays while the ASICS striped logo feels subdued and will take a few seconds to identify as a less-seasoned sneaker fan will be prompted to ask what brand of shoe could possibly execute a retro look that feels a bit futuristic at the same time.

Still, it all works in this iteration and it can already be assumed that Comme Des Garçons and ASICS will keep the creative unity in place for another model. It’s only a question of which shoe gets called up from past years of ASICS running standouts and whether Comme Des Garçons will bring a touch of color back into the equation.
The Comme Des Garçons + ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 drops on December 1 for $595 with retailer information to be announced shortly after.
