Wilson, Miller set to run 600m at Millrose as $25,000 world record bonus is added

Quincy Wilson and Brandon Miller will join a stacked field that will race in the 600m at the Millrose Games on February 8 at The Armory in New York, race organized announced on Monday.

Wilson, 17-year-old the phenom from Bullis School in Maryland, holds the second slot all-time for high school athletes in the 600m at 1:17.19 — a mark he set in December at The Armory.

But he will face established competition as his Paris Olympics teammate Miller will also be in action along with Isaiah Jewett, as the entire field looks to take down Donovan Brazier’s 1:13.77 world record set in 2022. Miller and Jewett are 800m specialists and have plenty of speed and experience to make serious runs at the record.

Meanwhile, meet organizers also announced that any world record broken this year will come with a $25,000 bonus in addition to prize money for the athlete reaches the top of the podium.

Last year, a pair of records were set at Millrose as Devynne Charlton broke Susanna Kallur’s women’s 60m hurdles mark by 0.01 seconds in 7.67. And Josh Kerr surged past Grant Fisher to an 8:00.67 win in the men’s two mile race, shaving more than three seconds off of Mo Farah’s 8:03.40 from 2015. Fisher set the American record with 8:03.62.

The meet will also feature a series of anticipated matchups as Yared Nuguse returns for a chance to claim his third straight Wanamaker Mile title. Nuguse is the American record holder and won last year’s race in 3:47.83. He will face off against Kerr, who slid past him at the line to win silver in the men’s 1,500m at the Paris Games. Hobbs Kessler is also looking to be in the mix as he hopes to dethrone Nuguse.

In the women’s mile, Jess Hull and Georgia Bell face off in a field that will also feature Nikki Hiltz and Emily Mackay, who both serve as major factors in what will likely be one of the most exciting races of the meet.

Charlton will be back to defend her world record in the 60m hurdles with a loaded lineup that will feature Masai Russell, Grace Stark, Tia Jones, Alaysha Johnson and Ackera Nugent. And on the men’s side Daniel Roberts hope to upgrade his second place finish in last year’s 60m hurdles.

But one of most anticipated events will be the men’s 3000m as Cole Hocker, who pulled off a stunner at the Paris Olympics in the men’s 1,500m will battle four-time American record holder Grant Fisher for the top of podium at The Armory.
