Strava has fired has fired an employee who was arrested outside of a San Francisco restaurant on Saturday on charges of public intoxication after a violent incident that was caught on video and has since gone viral.

Shireen Afkari, who was identified by the San Francisco Police Department, was seen verbally and physically assaulting staff at Hazie’s, a restaurant in the Hayes Valley area. According to reports and eyewitnesses, bartenders at the restaurant refused to serve Afkari after she and her date appeared highly intoxicated.

In the video Afkari’s behavior escalates and she was seen striking staff members including grabbing a bartender’s hair.

Afkari and her date were escorted from the restaurant and began fighting with other people outside. According to the bartender, Miguel Marchese, Afkari only let go of his hair when he took her phone and threw it a short distance near the street.

Marchese, told KRON4 he was looking to calm an incident that had clearly gotten out of control.

“I kind of just need to neutralize this situation just for a quick second and yeah, she stumbles on the concrete, and you think that’d be enough, but it wasn’t,” Marchese said. “She gets back up she yells at her boyfriend that he’s not man enough and he starts to re-engage in fighting with some other people.”

At that point, police arrived and Afkari was arrested, taken to SF County Jail and booked on a public intoxication charge. According to the police, none of the victims wanted to press charges against Afkari for assault.

In a comment on one of its social media accounts on Wednesday, Strava said it that had fired Afkari, who was listed as Senior Manager, Growth Marketing at the company according to a now-deleted LinkedIn profile page.

“We are aware of an employee who exhibited extremely concerning off-hours behavior. We don’t condone violence of any kind and this does not reflect the standards we expect of our team. This past Monday, we made the decision to end the individual’s employment.”
