Marvin Bracy-Williams was issued a 45-month ban from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency on Monday — nearly four years — after admitting to anti-doping rule violations, which included attempting tampering.
USADA confirmed the suspension which began with an investigation after receiving a tip in early 2024. Bracy-Williams was given an out-of-competition urine sample, which tested positive for testosterone, anabolic agent. He was provisionally suspended on February 5, 2024.
“This case is also an example of the importance of cooperation between like-minded-organizations and law enforcement agencies when it comes to eradicating organized doping schemes,” USADA CEO Travis T. Tygart said in a statement. “When the rules are applied as they should be, we can hold people accountable while also pursuing additional anti-doping rule violations and criminal charges. This investigation has already resulted in several impactful outcomes which will be announced at a later date, as the overall investigation continues.”
As part of a later inquiry, Bracy-Williams was found trying to tamper with the investigation and admitted to his drug violation and tampering.
The investigation was a joint effort as USADA, the Athletics Integrity Unit and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Orlando District Office, Miami Field Division uncovered the evidence of tampering.
According to the report, Bracy-Williams’ admission will be treated as a single violation.
But during the investigation in 2024, Bracy-Williams committed his third whereabouts failure within in a 12-month period while he was part of USADA’s Registered Testing Pool. The whereabouts failures occurred on August 10, 2023, October 4, 2023 and June 4, 2024.
Because of the third whereabouts failure, Bracy-Williams was subject to an additional 24-month suspension, which added to the reduced time he earned from admitting the drug usage and tampering. His ban officially started on February 5, 2024 at the time of the provisional suspension and Bracy-Williams will have to forfeit any medals, points and prizes won during that period.
Bracy-Williams won silver in the men’s 100m at the 2022 world championships and silver as part of Team USA’s men’s 4×100 relay team.
