Lyles, Thomas and Richardson lend gold medal style to the Met Gala

2025 Met Gala
Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas and Sha’Carri Richardson all took turns showing off their takes on high fashion at the Met Gala in New York on Monday.

The world of fashion, entertainment and sports collided in style on Monday as the 2025 Met Gala in New York brought luminaries to Metropolitan Museum of Art in the name of fashion while three of track’s top talents took a victory lap on the grand staircase.

Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas and Sha’Carri Richardson all took a break from the early outdoor track season tuneups to showcase stunning outfits as part of the Costume Institute arm of the museum, which staged “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” as this year’s theme, which explored 300 years of Black fashion and shed light on Black dandyism.

This year’s gala is a departure from past events in that it was a showcase highlighting only menswear, shed light on independent fashion talents and was anchored by Black designers.

The event raised a record $31 million this year, the most in the event’s 77-year history.

Meanwhile, Lyles, Thomas and Richardson shined with their own interpretations of the the gala’s theme:

Noah Lyles
Lyles’ deep black Thom Browne suit jacket and shorts were punctuated with pearl jewelry from Ana Khouri, who accompanied him on the carpet. The large pearl necklace Lyles was matched with four pearl rings on each hand and he capped the outfit with patent leather loafers and high black socks.

Gabby Thomas
Thomas was in all red from head-to-toe in a beaded off-the-shoulder gown by Ahluwalia that glowed under her diamond earrings. Her hair was pulled back into a tight bun in back while a large curl draped along with right side of her face.

Sha’Carri Richardson
Richardson’s trademark nails nearly took a back seat to her yellow Valentino gown that was cinched by three large bows, while a purple lace top completed the look. Her long flowing hair was accented with a series of bows as she made a point to show off her colorful nails, which were adorned with flowers and gemstones.
