Elle St. Pierre revealed on social media on Thursday that she is expecting her second child, a son, in the spring.
In a photo in her post, St. Pierre was joined by husband Jamie, who showed an image of an ultrasound scan as she held their first son, Ivan.
She announced in the post that her son is due on May 8.
After giving birth to Ivan in March 2023, St. Pierre, 29, was back in action with a seventh place finish at the 5th Avenue Mile in September of that year. But she returned to top form months later by snapping her own record at the Wanamaker Mile in 4:16.41 at the Millrose Games last February in New York.
Weeks later, at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow last March, St. Pierre took the win in the 3,000m in 8:20.87, an American record. She made her second Olympic team and place eight in the women’s 1,500m final at the Paris Games for Team USA. At the Tokyo Games in 2021 she finished tenth in the women’s 1,500m.
St. Pierre’s absence from her New Balance Boston training group became apparent in recent weeks as she did not appear in posts working out with teammates. The Mark Coogan-coached group has reloaded for the 2025 season with the addition of Parker Valby, who moved to Boston to join the group.
