The Diamond League season shifts from China after a pair of events packed with worlds leads and lands in Morocco for the Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athlétisme de Rabat on Sunday.
At the third meeting, another stacked lineup will be on display as Emmanuel Wanyonyi makes his 2026 series debut, while Shericka Jackson looks to dominate in the women’s 200m again as Letsile Tebogo, Soufiane El Bakkali, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Andre De Grasse and Kenny Bednarek lead a stacked showcase on the track.
Wanyonyi, the current Olympic 800m champion, is already a multiple winner in Rabat and faces a group on Sunday that includes Donavan Brazier, Gabriel Tual and Max Burgin while the men’s 200m will be one to watch with Tebogo, Bednarek and De Grasse all in position to surge across the line first.
With a third straight Diamond League win in her sights, Jackson heads in the women’s 200m a heavy favorite over Shaunae Miller-Uibo, McKenzie Long and Kayla White. A packed women’s 1,500m is up for grabs as Laura Muir, Freweyni Hailu, Agathe Guillemot, Worknesh Mesele, and Nadia Battocletti lead the way in a deep field while Quincy Hall will find his way to the start line in the men’s 400m against Matthew Hudson-Smith, Muzala Samukonga, Zakithi Nene and Jacory Patterson.
The men’s 1,500m, Yared Nuguse will battle current world champion Isaac Nader in group that will see Azeddine Habz, Festus Lagat, Narve Gilje Nordås and Lamecha Girma all challenge for who will rule on the final lap.
Olympic high jump champion and world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh will lead the way in her season opener against Vashti Cunningham, Yuliia Levchenko, Eleanor Patterson, Australia and Morgan Lake as Ryan Crouser looks to rebound from his third place finish in the men’s shot put in Xiamen last week as he takes on familiar throwers Joe Kovacs, Leonardo Fabbri, Tom Walsh and Payton Otterdahl.
The men’s 3,000m steeplechase is the final event of the evening and El Bakkali will have the roar of the home crowd behind him as he takes on a field that includes Frederik Ruppert, Edmund Serem, Simon Kiprop Koech, Samuel Firewu and Djilali Bedrani.
