The start of August is that symbolic mental crossing when it’s time to hold on to what’s left of summer.
But on the streets of Williamsburg, the BKLYN Mile is that moment to rip down one of the fastest stretches in the city on the first Sunday of the month in a corral of the local run culture.
Pro races, local elites, open fields and a community division pull the event full circle in a reminder that running touches every point of the city during the summer — and doesn’t retreat when the colder months show up.
But in this instance, just a mile made sure that every stride counted, no matter the speed and we use the next thirty or sixty days to keep showing up for the next run.
And the next.
