Nike ACG unveiled its Lava Loft Down Jacket that is geared for trail runners looking for a versatile layer that is constructed to be effective in unpredictable conditions on the run.
The 700-fill jacket is just 10 ounces, packable into its own inside pocket, with balanced breathability and warmth, according to the brand.

When packed, the jacket fits in the palm of a hand, which will be welcome to many runners once it’s time to shed a layer or two. Nike says inspiration for the jacket came from athletes who found their way through tough terrain in places like the Dolomites and dealing with a range of temperatures in the Rio Grande. The priority is having a single layer that can be versatile no matter the condition.
The data collected by Nike researchers and its design team led the group to incorporate ExpeDRY Gold moisture-resistant insulation technology into the jacket to keep it dry faster but also but also stay dry. Carefully thought out perforations are visible, which are a staple of other AeroLoft garments and range from 0.7 millimeters to over 2 centimeters — with breathability being a priority.
The outer later is a mashup of wearable tech with Nike Dri-FIT, Repel four-way stretch, Ultra UV and DWR hydrophobic recycled baffle materials all part of the mix in a versatile package.

The Lava Loft will be available on January 1 on Nike’s website and select retail locations with pricing to be announced in the coming weeks.
