Mo Farah's URUNN training app gets seven-figure round of funding

  • URUNN, backed by Mo Farah and Adam Clarke, pulled in a seven-figure haul in its latest fundraising round.
  • The platform has expanded into over 110 countries and landed partnerships with Huawei, Vodafone, Puma and Adidas.
  • The app combines elite coaches, real-time AI, audible pace guidance and seamless integration with Strava, Apple Watch and Garmin.

URUNN, the performance running coaching and training app led by four-time Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah, revealed on Tuesday that it has secured a seven-figure cash infusion in its latest fundraising round.

The platform, co-founded by Adam Clarke alongside Farah, was launched last July and operates on underlying architecture from fitness technology 10XU and pursued its most recent expansion with private investors.

Farah and Clarke declined to disclose an exact number of what the seven-figure amount is but noted that the URUNN is pulling in the resources it needs to continue its presence in a very competitive running technology arena.

“I’ve spent my whole career learning what it takes to improve as a runner and be the best I could be,” Farah said. “This latest funding round means we can reach more people, deepen the human expertise at the heart of the app, and make a real difference to how URUNN members run and their belief in what they can achieve in this sport.”

URUNN brings elite athletes and coaches, like Farah, Clarke and Charlotte Purdue on a single platform that utilizes their resources and experience to compile intensive training programs to meet the needs to performance athletes.

Sessions are tailored to each user across a range of workouts from treadmill, to intervals or tempo runs while adapting to week-to-week chances that could impact any runner and also emphasizes a structured recovery routine. The app seamlessly infuses real time AI to provide accurate insights, includes a live audible pace guide on the run and easily integrates data to and from devices and services like Strava, the Apple Watch and Garmin.

“We built URUNN to be that supportive guide for every runner, grounded in our own experience of how important the right coach is when you’re pushing to improve,” Clarke said. “That means real human expertise, delivered with genuine care for every runner’s journey, helping them discover the competitor within themselves.

After a healthy seed round last year, URUNN found its place in a running app landscape that is dominated by established platforms like the Strava and Runna, which it acquired last year. But newer players have also stepped in the battle for runner loyalty — and their data — like Eliud Kipchoge’s Kotcha app, which launched last fall.

Still, URUNN is intent on making a bigger push and scaling this year after expanding into more than 110 countries and landing partnerships with Huawei, Vodafone, Puma and Adidas.

“This funding takes us one step closer to that goal, expanding the depth of human expertise in the app, investing in the product, and continuing to grow the global community we’ve built in URUNN,” Clarke said.
