On has unleashed the next generation of its performance distance shoe lineup with a double dose in the form of the Cloudboom Strike 2 and LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2.
Both models are built strictly for “marathon racing at the highest level,” according to On and running efficiency that maximizes — and sustains — speed over the 26.2 mile distance was baked into the formula underpinning the shoes.
The Cloudboom Strike 2 brings innovation with the CloudTec foam getting an upgrade to CloudTec Sphere for comfort and better optimization on the run and a Helion hyper foam midsole that is 15 percent lighter than the previous Cloudboom.
Meanwhile, the LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2 rides on similar tooling as its sibling but noticeably gets the sprayed one piece upper with no laces that is constructed solely by On’s innovative robots. The technology and shoes broke cover for world to see on the feet of Hellen Obiri when she surged to take the 2024 Boston Marathon and On has since doubled down on its LightSpray production efforts drastically.
Between layers of the dual-density Helion HF foam is a curved Speedboard carbon fiber plate that is now lighter and stiffer than past versions, and appears in both models.
The Cloudboom Strike 2 ($250) and LightSpray Cloudboom Strike 2 ($310) will be available on July 30 via On and select premium retailers.
