Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone posted a strong season this year and cashed in along the way as she raked in a reported $8.2 million in earnings on and off the track.
Forbes released its list of top earning female athletes last week, with McLaughlin-Levrone taking the 18th position in a tie with Lindsey Vonn.
She was the only track and field athlete to crack the top 20, in a group where half of list was comprised of tennis players, with the rest represented by basketball, golf, skiing and rugby.
Coco Gauff led the way with $33 million, while fellow tennis players Aryna Sabalenka ($30 million) and Iga Swiatek ($25.1 million) grabbed the second and third positions.
For McLaughlin-Levrone, it should be noted that the bulk of her reported earnings did not come from competition on the track.
Forbes claims that just $0.2 million of her income came from racing, with the other $8 million from a host of endorsement deals with New Balance, TAG Heuer, Gatorade and Neutrogena.
McLaughlin-Levrone had a solid season that kicked off with three Grand Slam Track meets in April and May. She dominated at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene in August with a win in the women’s 400m. At the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Mclaughlin-Levrone powered her way to a new U.S. record in the women’s women’s 400m at 48.29 and later clocked a 47.78 to win gold in the event. She also anchored Team USA’s women’s 4x400m relay team to victory for the world title.
Outside of her earnings McLaughlin-Levrone was named female athlete of the year by World Athletics last month and enters 2026 in with no Olympics or world championships as the final goal for the year. But she will likely continue reshaping the current 400m landscape after previously taking claim of numerous 400m hurdles records.
