Great Britain issued a warning by World Athletics over Jeremiah Azu’s ‘100% Jesus’ headband

World Athletics said it was warn Great Britain about its rules prohibiting political and religious slogans after Jeremiah Azu wore a headband on Sunday that displayed ‘100% Jesus’.

World Athletics said it would “remind” Great Britain of its rules that prohibit religious and political slogans on Tuesday after Jeremiah Azu wore a headband that displayed ‘100% Jesus’ on it during the men’s 100m semifinal on Sunday.

Athletes are prohibited from displaying religious and political messages or gestures during competition.

“We are aware of the headband, and as he may compete in the relay we will remind the team ahead of competition of our regulations and of consequences,” a World Athletics statement said.

Azu’s headband was white and shoed the messages in black letters that were clearly visible during broadcast and photos during and after his semifinal.

He finished fourth and did not advance to the final.

But Azu, 24, will likely run on his country’s men’s 4×100 relay team, promoting the warning from World Athletics officials.

Azu has been a standout talent for Great Britain and is the world and European indoor champion in the 60m. He won bronze as part of the 4x100m team at the Paris Olympics last year.
