Strava is doubling down on its continued pivot into strength with a new update that will make the transition from the run to targeting muscle a smooth process.
On Thursday, the company unveiled a coach-designed guided routine feature that also offers live set-and-rep tracking with animated muscle-group intensity visuals that show exactly how to make the session a reality.
The movements sync instantly to the workout log and the muscle map updates to show where each effort went and users can expect the update to roll out in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the company says that strength is among the fastest-growing activities on the platform since users are looking for detailed solutions that track resistance training. And it believes that a major hurdle to getting started in strength is simply not knowing what to do first, how to structure workouts and maintain quality logs.
“Clicking into each exercise also provides guidance on the correct form, tips and the exact muscles targeted,” Strava noted in its description of the feature. “When a workout ends, every exercise, set, and rep is saved directly to the athlete’s activity, and their muscle map updates to show where the effort went.”
The latest updates added to Strava’s deeper push into strength after overhauling the feature in May to include tracking of reps, sets, weights and muscle groups in addition to introducing detailed training logs.
“Strength has been one of the fastest-growing sport types on Strava for some time, with over 500 million uploads in 2025 alone, and our community has been clear about what they need from us,” Strava chief product officer Matt Salazar said at the time. “This overhaul brings the same depth, motivation and shareability that Strava is known for to a myriad of strength activities. Whether someone is training for a race, lifting for general fitness, or building strength as their primary activity, they now have tools that meet them where they actually are and this is only the beginning.”
Strava said it was prompted to target the strength segment after user feedback that suggested a better commitment to detailed workout programs.
The latest update will also include new running workouts as part of the company’s expanded library of guided options.
